J3C College Football Top 25 (after week 4)

Hard to believe that a state with as much HS football talent as Georgia could have two major programs that are at such low points simultaneously, but that’s where things are after this weekend. Objects in the rear view mirror (like Georgia State) might be closer than they appear.

In Atlanta the problems appear to be bigger than coaching and schemes, there simply isn’t a lot of D-1 talent on the roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Bulldawg Nation wants a new OC, isn’t really happy with the new DC, and may be looking for a new HC if things don’t turn around very quickly. At least they can look forward to facing the Tennessee defense soon, that should cure a lot of their offensive woes.

Speaking of Knoxville … on second thought, let’s not say much. Celebrating survival against UAB at home like it’s an SEC title game says a lot about how bad the situation is right now … Did Spurrier sink the Gamecocks season by returning to his yanking the QB ways? … Did the Longhorns just have an awful day or were they exposed as pretenders? … Should we really be impressed by Miami’s win over Pitt? … Will anybody come any closer to Alabama than Arkansas did this weekend? Probably best to stop there, since I seem to have more questions than answers anyway.

JC3 College Football Top 25 (after wk 2)

What an utterly miserable weekend of college football, truckloads of yuck. Before the updated rankings, my observations from the weekend, at least the few I can give that wouldn’t get the blog an R rating.

JC3 College Football Top 25 (after week 1)

One week of college football now in the books, not sure how much we really learned. Before my rankings, a few observations from the weekend, in no particular order … Boise State is capable of beating a Top 25 team if the opponent doesn’t bother to show up for the first quarter … GT still has problems stopping the run, has even more problems throwing the football, I’m more concerned now than I was before Saturday … Most BCS teams can beat a little sister of the poor badly … I loved the karmic payback for Ole Miss … USC can light up the scoreboard against a team that doesn’t play defense … LSU needs a new coach … And I learned that I need to make sure that this posts when written instead of getting stuck as a draft & not posting. Sorry ’bout that.
