J3C College Football Top 25 (after week 13)

Auburn rallies over Alabama in historic fashion … Nevada slays the pretender … Tennessee will go bowling … Georgia celebrates being just as mediocre as Georgia Tech, while the Jackets look better losing than they’ve looked winning … Miami decides enough is enough & fires Randy Shannon …

J3C College Football Top 25 (after week 12)

Georgia Tech becomes bowl eligible … Tennessee moves within a win over Kentucky of being bowl eligible … We now know for sure that they’re are indeed too many bowl games … Michigan State rallies to win, Wisconsin struggles early with Michigan, Mississippi State forces Arkansas to OT, and LSU finds another rabbit’s foot. On any given Saturday I guess, but it still leave me with a feeling that the Top 25 just ain’t what it used to be … And it’s going to be a looooong week, I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia hung a hundred on the Jackets. Ah well, there’s always basketball season. Oh, wait, that looks even worse than football season. My sports fandom feels a bit like Charlie Brown with Lucy & that @#$% football at this point.

J3C College Football Top 25 (after wk 11)

Auburn and South Carolina punch their tickets for a date in Atlanta … Oregon survives a late-night challenge from Cal … TCU recovers from a slow start to beat a not-bad SDSU … Tennessee wishes the season started in November … Georgia Tech continues their descent into not-even-mediocrity … Note to Wisconsin: throwing a TD pass when you’ve already broken 60 and the other guy isn’t putting up a fight is a little tacky … Funny how time changes things, I’m quite okay with the Ol’ Ball Coach getting one more moment in the sun … All in all, just another Saturday in college football.

Friday 5 o’clock Whistle (11/12/10)

Almost feels like the holiday rush has started, so maybe a little music will help us keep pace with the hustle and bustle. Can’t kick ass sitting down anyway, might as well keep moving, so there’s new music from Pop Evil and Hinder, classic Megadeth live, and more right after the whistle. Have a great weekend my friends.

J3C College Football Top 25 (after week 10)

A fairly lackluster slate of games this weekend but we end up with surprises in spite of it all.  Alabama falls to LSU, Michigan & Illnois combine for 132 points (more than they’ve managed in their last three b’ball meetings), and Tennessee wins a game, albeit over a team so bad that they might need to be downgraded from “Tiger High” to “Tiger Middle” …  TCU routs Utah & looks like a legit contender in a field of flawed candidates … I’m more concerned by the points allowed by Auburn than I am impressed by the points they scored … I’m still kind of shellshocked by the injury to Josh Nesbitt on Thursday, turning a disappointing GT season even gloomier.  Can’t thank that young man enough for the example he set with his consistent display of heart & effort throughout his career, nobody wearing that uniform ever laid it all on the line more than him …  Congratulations to Georgia State, their win over Lamar assures them of at least a .500 record in their inaugural campaign … Also deserving a mention here is Georgia Southern, who knocked off unbeaten #1 Appalachian State for homecoming in Statesboro, part of a wild day in I-AA that also saw #2 Jacksonville State & #3 Villanova also lose …

Friday 5 o’clock Whistle (11/5/10)

Time to “Fall Back” this weekend, finally getting back that hour of sleep we lost back in the spring.  With that in mind, we’ll spend some quality time with Maiden, Crue, and more right after the Whistle finally blows.  The weekend is upon us, make every second count.
